Produced between 1960 and 1966, this was Seiko’s entry into the ultra-flat watch segment and quite an entry it was, the brochure from the time claiming that it was the "thinnest centre second watch in the world."

In 1962 Citizen introduced the beautifully named Diamond Flake based on the 0700 movement. Why this name? well a diamond flake would be thin, and at the time the 0700 movement was the thinnest Japanese design, measuring just 2.75 mm deep – beating the Seiko Gold Feather by 0.2 mm. I say ‘beating’ because there was something of a race to produce the thinnest movements, following the fashion for ever slimmer dress watches.
The logo at the 12 0′clock position is unique to the Diamond Flake.
The gold finish of the movement indicates that this was a good quality model.
The movement was made with either 25 or 31 jewels, and later a date version was made (2700 movement, 25 jewels only).

Citizen made higher grade models of their earlier hand winding watches, and prefaced them with ‘Super’ to distinguish them. So we can find, although not that often, Super versions of the Ace, the Hi-Line and of course the Deluxe. The Deluxe was Citizen’s hugely successful line launched in 1958, reputedly selling over 100million pieces until production ended as soon as 1963. The Super version was also launched in 1958.
What makes the Super Deluxe er…Super? In terms of the accuracy of its timekeeping the watch was subject to a higher level of adjustment at the factory – the standard Deluxe movement is marked as having 3 adjustments, whilst the Super is marked as ‘Specially’ adjusted, suggesting adjustment in at least 5 positions. Another indication is that the jeweling range is up a notch to 23 and 25 rather than the standard model’s 19, 21 and 23. The quality of finish applied to the movement is also superior, and gold filled cases were typical.
Finally, let’s take a look at the 9200 movement – finished in gold plate the markings clearly show that it’s a Super model.
The Super Deluxe – a high grade hand winding watch which oozes the dress style of its day, and would have represented citizen’s most accurate timepiece at the time just prior to the launch of the Chronometer in 1962.
This was Citizen's first 'super' version of one of their standard movements. The movements were finished to a higher standard, featuring gold plated bridges, and were 'specially adjusted' at the factory giving greater accuracy than found in the base movement with its standard three adjustments. This was Citizen's most accurate watch before they released the Chronometer in 1962. Some models feature a three star marking on the dial, which Citizen later repeated in their 'super' versions of other models

Production Year: 1960
First produced in 1958 the Deluxe was one of Citizen’s most successful lines. Produced in many and varied styles, its production run appears to have been about 5 years. The movement used is the 2B/9200, and was a higher grade (adjusted in three positions at the factory) hand winder with 19, 21 or 23 jewels.

As indicated by the high jewel counts, the Cutlass was an upper medium model, broadly on a par with the Crystal Seven. They have a unique applied logo at the 6 o’clock position.
